  • OVERVIEW-Owner Managed Cleaning Company with 1-2 employees. Over the previous 12 months, client was experiencing decreasing profits, cash flows and revenue despite relatively unchanged Customer Mix.

    Action Steps: Gain a thorough understanding of client’s business challenges and goals. Created Profit & Loss and Cash Flow Statements (Neither existed) for deeper financial understanding. Researched industry trends. Accompanied client on various jobs to identify process improvement opportunities.

    Findings: Although the new home builder’s segment accounted for 40% of total revenue, it was the least profitable due to high COGS and low pricing. The commercial segment was the most profitable but only contributed 10% of total revenue. Residential cleaning services fell in the middle but pricing considerably lower than competitor pricing.

    Strategy/Plan: Step 1: Ask customer to improve processes that eliminate waste and negotiate new pricing in the new builder segment. Step 2: Propose price increases in the residential segment Step 3: Expand market share in the commercial space

    Results: The new home builder segment was eliminated when COGS continued to decimate profit. There was minimal attrition in the residential segment due to price increases. A marketing campaign was created to increase market share in the commercial segment, by highlighting their unique value proposition.
